PAR - Partial Apparent

Abbreviation for 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol. C ₁₁ H ₉ N ₃ O ₂ (215.21). An analytical reagent. Orange-yellow powder. Slightly soluble in water and alcohols. It produces colored metal chelate complexes that dissolve in organic solvents such as chloroform, so it is widely used as a colorimetric extraction reagent for Co, Cr, Nb, Pb, Sc, and U ⁴⁺ , and as a metal indicator in chelate titrations of Cu ²⁺ , Pb ²⁺ , and Zn ²⁺ .
