A tribute to the forget-me-not

Japanese: 萱草に寄す - わすれぐさによす

This is Michizō Tachihara's first collection of poems. It was a private edition published in 1937 as the first volume of the Hyacinth series. It is composed of five poems in SONATINE No.1 and three poems in SONATINE No.2, with two short interludes in the style of Summer Flower Songs in between, and all of the poems are in sonnet form. The binding is modelled after musical scores, and the collection is thoroughly musical. The content of the poems can also be explored with reference to this musical form, with the pastoral love song in Summer Flower Songs in between, the song of a love that should be lost in No.1, and the song of a love that has been lost in No.2.

立原道造の第1詩集。1937年，風信子（ヒヤシンス）叢書第1冊として刊行された私家版。小間奏曲風な〈夏花の歌〉2編を間に置いて，〈SONATINE No.1〉5編と〈SONATINE No.2〉3編とから構成され，収められた詩はすべてソネット形式をとっている。楽譜を模した装丁をはじめ，徹頭徹尾，音楽が意識された詩集である。詩の内容も〈夏花の歌〉の牧歌風な恋歌を間に，〈No.1〉の失われるべき恋の歌，そして〈No.2〉の失われた恋の歌というふうに，この音楽形式を参考にして探れる。
