Thus, solid rockets have a history spanning 10 centuries, while liquid rockets are said to have originated when Peruvian Paule PAPaulet, who was studying in Paris, experimented with a rocket with a thrust of 100 kgf just before the end of the 19th century. In any case, rocket technology, which is truly backed by modern science, was built up in the 20th century by three pioneers: KE Tsiolkovsky of Russia, R. Goddard of the United States, and H. …19世紀になるとイギリスのコングリーブWilliam Congreve(1772‐1828)の作ったロケット弾がヨーロッパ各地やアメリカでの戦争に用いられ，それなりの威力を発揮したが，その後兵器としてのロケットは大砲の射程がのびるに従い見限られることとなる。　一応このように固体ロケットは10世紀にわたる歴史をもつが，一方，液体ロケットは実に19世紀もまさに終わらんとするころ，パリに留学していたペルー人ポーレP.A.Pauletが推力100kgfのロケットを実験したのがそもそもの始まりといわれる。いずれにせよ真に近代科学に裏づけされたロケット技術は，20世紀において3人の先覚者，ロシアのK.E.チオルコフスキー，アメリカのR.ゴダード，そしてドイツのH.オーベルトによって築き上げられたのである。…
