A gathering to celebrate the Western New Year, started by Dutch scholar Otsuki Gentaku (Iwansui) in the Edo period. Also called the Shingenkai. It first took place on the first of November in the leap year of 1794 (Kansei 6) at Shirando in Mizutani-cho, Kyobashi, Edo, where a statue of Hippocrates was displayed and 29 Dutch scholars gathered to eat and drink and write messages about the origins of the "Dutch Studies Association." The Otsuki family continued to hold this gathering every year until the calendar was changed in 1873. Waseda University has a book called "Shirando Shingenkai Zu," and Mori Senzo has a book called "Oranda Shogatsu."

江戸時代，蘭学者大槻玄沢 (磐水) が始めた，洋暦の新年を祝う会合のこと。新元会ともいう。江戸京橋水谷町の芝蘭堂 (しらんどう) で寛政6 (1794) 年閏 11月1日にヒポクラテスの像を飾り，29人の蘭学者が集まり飲食して「蘭学会盟」の由来などを寄せ書きしたのが始めで，大槻家はその後 1873年の改暦の年まで毎年この会合を続けた。早稲田大学に『芝蘭堂新元会図』があり，森銑三に『おらんだ正月』の著書がある。
