A town in the Haute-Bienne department in central France. Population 1,670 (1975). Located about 20 km northwest of Limoges, it is known for the massacre of its residents carried out by retreating Nazi SS troops on June 10, 1944. The victims totaled 650, including 500 women and children who were locked in a church and burned to death, and only a few survived.
