Oragaharu - Oragaharu

This is a representative collection of haiku poems by Kobayashi Issa. It was published by his disciple Shirai Isshi 25 years after Issa's death. It is a collection of musings, observations, and haiku written over a period of one year in 1819 (Bunsei 2), when Issa was 57 years old. Issa's maturity can be seen in the slightly sarcastic observations and in the candid writing about his grief over the death of his eldest daughter Sato of smallpox that same year. Also striking is the maturation of Issa's faith in the Tathagata (Buddha Buddha) as a follower of the Jodo Shinshu sect, through the successive deaths of his children (his eldest son died three years earlier). Issa compares the first line of the collection of haiku from which Ichino chose this title, "My spring is as auspicious as ever," with the last line of the collection, "Anyway, I leave this year's end to you," and passionately describes the state of mind of "leaving it up to you," which goes beyond the "trivial details" of "relying on oneself and relying on others."

小林一茶(いっさ)の代表的な句文集(くぶんしゅう)。一茶死後25年たって、弟子の白井一之(いっし)が上梓(じょうし)。1819年（文政2）、一茶57歳の1年間の随想、見聞、句作だが、ちくりと皮肉を仕込んだ見聞にも、この年、長女さとを痘瘡(とうそう)で死なせて、その悲嘆の情をありていにつづった文章にも、一茶の円熟が感じられる。そして、重なる子供の死（3年前に長男死亡）を通じての、浄土真宗門徒一茶の如来(にょらい)信仰の成熟が目をひく。一之がこの題を選んだ句文集最初の句「目出度(めでた)さもちう位也(くらいなり)おらが春」を、集末尾の句「ともかくもあなた任(まか)せのとしの暮(くれ)」と照応させつつ、「自力他力」の「小(こ)むつかしき子細(しさい)」を超えた、「あなた任せ」の境地を一茶は熱っぽく述べている。
