The Victorian sense of order, including in language and dress, became more relaxed, and society gradually transformed into a permissive society. However, in the 1960s, the British economy, which continued to decline internationally, experienced a vicious cycle of rising prices and wages at home, leading to another devaluation of the pound in 1967.
