...Many of the Parkia species (such as Parkia roxburgii ) grow to 30-40m in height, but their young legumes, which reach 50cm in length, are considered vegetables in Malaysia. The golden pheasant, Pithecellobium dulce , native to Central America, is widely cultivated in tropical regions, and its young disk-shaped seeds, which are 3-4cm in diameter, are edible, and its mature fruits, which contain sugar, are also edible. Both species are cultivated and used in or near villages from Malaysia to Indonesia.
