Proliferation Security Initiative : A proliferation security initiative. It is an effort by participating countries to jointly prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, missiles, and related materials, which are a threat to the peace and stability of the international community, within the bounds of international law and each country's domestic law. It was launched in 2003 at the urging of U.S. President Bush. More than 90 countries have expressed their support. → Bush
