Obakodake - Obakodake

This mountain is located on the border between Totsukawa Village and Nosegawa Village in Yoshino County in southern Nara Prefecture. It has an altitude of 1,344 meters. The summit is covered with a field of Japanese reeds, and with no trees to obstruct the view, it offers a magnificent view. It overlooks the Omine mountain range to the east, Mt. Gomadan to the west, the Koya and Kojin mountains to the north, and Mt. Hokosai to the south, and is part of the Koya-Ryujin Quasi-National Park. It is the main peak of the Obako Mountains, which extend eastward from Mt. Gomadan, a branch of the Kii Mountain Range. To the east of the peak is Obako Pass, on the old Minami-Koya Highway that connects Mt. Koya and Kumano.

奈良県南部、吉野郡十津川(とつかわ)村と野迫川(のせがわ)村の境にある山。標高1344メートル。山頂は一面のカヤの原で、目を遮る樹木がなく、雄大な展望が開ける。東に大峰の連峰、西に護摩壇山(ごまだんざん)、北に高野(こうや)、荒神の山々、南に鉾尖(ほこさい)岳などを臨み、高野竜神国定公園に属する。紀伊山地の一支脈、護摩壇山から東方へ延びる伯母子山地の主峰である。山頂の東には、高野山と熊野を結ぶ旧南高野街道の伯母子峠がある。
