…It quickly spread throughout the world, and even to the Americas, especially Latin America, where movements were promoted by white and black intellectuals. Some of these movements include the Revue Indigène movement (1926-27) by Jean-Pryce Marl and Jacques Leman in Haiti, the Negritude movement by Aimé Césaire in Martinique, the Negrismo movement by Alejo Carpentier and Nicolas Guillen in Cuba, and the Northeastern Literature movement by Gilberto Freire and Jorge Amado in Brazil. Although these movements did not have any horizontal connections or connections, they shared a commonality in singing the revival of African character and black spirit, and as a whole they established a new genre called Afro-American literature. …
