The relationship between the villages and the nomads was also based on the exchange of agricultural products, dairy products, and wool, and the nomads also undertook the task of patrolling the villages and sometimes joining in anti-tax rebellions with the peasants, creating a mutually dependent relationship between the two. In this way, a local community (rif) was formed around the village based on the close relationship between the city dwellers and the nomads.
