Robinsonade

…Robinson Crusoe was widely read not only in England, but also in other countries, and many voyages were written in imitation of the story. The German word Robinsonade was coined to mean something like Robinson Crusoe, and the French slang Robinson means a large parasol like the one Robinson used. In Japan, a second translation of the Dutch translation was published as early as the end of the Tokugawa Shogunate, but one of the earliest translations from the original text that is worthy of note is Tsutomu Inoue's The Tale of Robinson (1883), a strange and extraordinary tale. …
