...The second marriage produced a child, who inspired him to write the piano suite "Childrens' Corner" (1906-08). The third series of "Images" for orchestra (1908-12, including "Iberia"), the song collection "Billon's Ballades" (1910), and the first series of "Preludes" for piano (1910) followed. The second series of "Preludes" (1913), the music for the sacramental drama "The Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian" (1911), the ballet "Jeux" (1912), "Three Poems of Mallarmé" (1913), and "Twelve Etudes" for piano (1915) explored new sonic forms and durations, and the three "Sonatas" (1915-17) for different instruments show a taste of French classicism.
