Chozankan skewers

Japanese: 長山串 - ちょうざんかん

A cape at the tip of the area that juts out most into the Yellow Sea, slightly north of the middle of the Korean Peninsula. It belongs to South Hwanghae Province, Democratic People's Republic of Korea. Covered with beautiful pine forests, it was protected during the Yi Dynasty as a source of timber for ships and palaces. Limestone and slate are distributed, and the tuffaceous slate on the seabed was used as the raw material for Haeju inkstones. The nearby waters are a fishing ground for corbicula croaker, pufferfish, and other fish, and the fishing industry is thriving, with Mongimpo Port at the entrance to the cape and Baengnyeong Island to the south of the cape as its bases. West Korea Bay opens out to the north of the cape, and Gyeonggi Bay to the south. [Taniura Takao]

朝鮮半島の中間よりやや北方の黄海に最も突出した地域の先端にある岬。朝鮮民主主義人民共和国黄海南道に属する。松の美林が覆い，李朝時代には船や宮室用木材供給地として保護された。石灰岩，粘板岩が分布し，海底の凝灰質粘板岩は海州硯の原料に供された。近海はイシモチ，フグなどの漁場で，岬入口の夢金浦港や岬南方の白翎（はくれい）島を根拠地として水産業が盛んである。岬の北に西朝鮮湾，南に京畿湾が開けている。【谷浦孝雄】
