…On the whole, British painting around the time of World War I followed the example of French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Representative of this trend was the Camden Town group, which was formed in 1911 and was led by Walter Richard Sickert (1860-1942), Lucien Pissarro (1863-1944, son of Camille Pissarro), and Augustus John (1878-1961).
