Serrano Suñer, R.

In 1937, during the civil war, the Falange merged with the traditionalists (Carlists) who sought to restore the monarchy, to become the Spanish Traditional Falange and the National Syndicalist Action (FET y de las JONS). This merger was approved by Franco, and the ideological and legal foundations, such as removing the clause on the separation of church and state, were prepared by Ramón Serrano Suñer (1901- ). However, this merger was not recognized by all the Falange leaders and the Carlistas, and from this time on, the movement was called the National Movement, and Franco became the head of the National Movement or the only party, FET y de las JONS, and the new Falange became the backbone of the Franco regime.
