…The Eastern Hills are a folded mountain range formed in the Tertiary Period, consisting of hills running parallel to each other from north to south, stretching from the Arakan region of Myanmar through the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the eastern part of Chittagong District to the Indian state of Tripura, with its northern end projecting into the southern part of Sylhet District. The elevation is about 500-700m in the northern part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, but increases in the southern part, with the highest peak in Bangladesh, Mowdok Mual (1003m), located on the Myanmar border. Bangladesh's climate is humid in the east and relatively dry in the west. …
