[Disease History]
The name given to a disease called scrofula. Today, scrofula refers to tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis, a disease in which the lymph nodes in the neck are invaded by tuberculosis bacteria, swelling and hardening to form what are known as glandular masses, and the skin then breaks down, leaving intractable ulcers.
