Selenicereus pteranthus (English spelling)

...Mexican Cephalocereus senilis (Haw.) Pfeiff. (illustration) and South American Espostoa lanata Br.et R. are covered with dense white hairs and are known as trichomes. On the other hand, the forest epiphytic cacti that grow on trees and rocks include the triangular prism Hylocereus guatemalensis (Eichl.) Br.et R., which grows in the night-flowering group with three ridges, the Queen of the Night Selenicereus pteranthus (Lk.et O.) Br.et R., which has white flowers over 30 cm in diameter, and the flat-stemmed night-flowering cereus (illustration), while the day-flowering group includes the peacock cactus Epiphyllum (illustration), the Schlumbergera cactus (illustration), and the string-like hanging gold string Aporocactus flagelliformis (L.) Lem. The genus Rhipsalis also grows epiphytically, but its flowers are small and its fruits are berries, and it is the only cactus that is naturally distributed in the old continent of Africa, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka.
