A belief in the household god in the Tohoku region. A pair of sticks about one foot long are fitted with heads depicting men, women, livestock, etc., and are covered in multiple layers of cloth called osendaku. When an itako holds these in her hands and recites a ritual text, this is called oshirasama asobase. The sticks are often made of mulberry wood, and oshira means silkworm. In the Kanto and Chubu regions, she is worshipped as the goddess of silkworms, and a hanging scroll of the goddess holding a mulberry branch is worshipped.
