Dumas's "The Three Musketeers" depicts these Gascon young men as the protagonists, and their adventurous, boastful, and somewhat boastful but friendly disposition (Gascon type). The Pyrenees are divided into four regions: Basque, Béarn, Bigorre, and Comminges from the west.
