Sino-Japanese region

In contrast to the Zoogeographical Provinces, there has long been an opinion that the distribution of plants on Earth should be divided into six major kingdoms: the Holarctic, Paleotropical, Neotropical, Australian, Cape and Antarctic Flora. Recently, however, there has been a strong tendency to organize the distribution of plants on Earth by setting 37 flora kingdoms based on Good R. Good's classification. According to this, most of the Japanese archipelago is shared with the region from China to the Himalayas, and falls into the Sino-Japanese region, which includes the area from southern Sakhalin to the southern Kuril Islands in the north. The Nansei Islands south of the Tokara Islands are in the Continental South East Asian region, along with Taiwan, Indochina, Thailand, and Myanmar, and it is not clear whether the Ogasawara Islands belong to the Japanese-Chinese region or the Melanesia-Micronesia region, but Good places them in the Melanesia and Micronesia region.
