American Protestant theologian and church historian. Born in Portland, Maine, as the son of a pastor, he attended Amherst College and Hartford Theological Seminary, and obtained his doctorate from the University of Leipzig in 1888. After serving as professor of church history at Hartford Theological Seminary (1892-1901), he became professor of church history at Yale Divinity School in 1901. He received honorary degrees from Western Reserve University, Amherst College, Yale University, Geneva University, Harvard University, and Marietta College. His History of the Christian Church (18) was used as a textbook on church history for a long time. His main works include "A History of the Congregational Churches in the United States" (1894), "The Reformation" (1900), "Ten New England Leaders" (01), "John Calvin" (06), and "History of the Christian Church" (18).

Born 1941 in Halifax, England. British chemist. Earned his PhD from Oxford University. In 1982, he became a professor at the UK Institute of Molecular Biomedical Sciences. In order to prove the rotational theory of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase proposed by PD Boyer of the University of California, Los Angeles, he used X-ray analysis and revealed its three-dimensional structure in the 1990s. His research, spanning 10 years, demonstrated the mechanism of synthesis of ATP, the energy source in living organisms. Together with Boyer and JC Scow, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1997.

Born: May 8, 1824 in Nashville, Tennessee
Died September 12, 1860. Honduran-American adventurer. He emigrated to California in 1850, and from there, in cooperation with revolutionary elements in Nicaragua, led a volunteer army to invade the country, seizing de facto control of the country and serving as president of Nicaragua (July 1856 - March 1857). He surrendered to the U.S. Navy and returned to the United States. In 1860, he attempted to land in Honduras, but was captured by the British Navy, handed over to the Honduran government, and executed.

[Died] circa 1656/1660 English portrait painter. He was a famous painter during the Cromwell era, and painted many portraits of Parliamentarians. His style shows the influence of Van Dyck. His works are held in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery in Leeds and London, among others.

アメリカの冒険家。 1850年カリフォルニアに移住し,そこからニカラグアの革命分子と呼応して義勇兵を率いて侵入し同地の事実上の支配権を握り,ニカラグア大統領の地位を保った (1856.7.~57.3.) が,アメリカ海軍に投降して帰国。 60年ホンジュラスに上陸を試みたがイギリス海軍に捕えられ,ホンジュラス政府に引渡されたのち処刑された。
