splint

Today, wooden materials are often only used for emergency treatment, as they do not have the plasticity to conform to the shape of the limb. A splint is a type of brace used primarily to immobilize limbs and joints. The history of splints used for bone fractures is long, and splints dating back to around 2750-2625 BC have been excavated from ruins in Egypt.
