…This is an ancient commentary on the fundamental text of the Samkhya school of ancient India, the Samkhya Kālika (On Number Theory), translated into Chinese by Zhenji in the mid-6th century. The author is unknown, and the original Sanskrit text has not been discovered, but the recently published text of the Suvarna-vṇa-vṛtti has many similarities in content, and some scholars assume that this is the original text. The only Chinese translations of heretical texts that remain are this book and the Katsusō Jikkugiron. …
