...Sydenham's chorea and Huntington's chorea are the most common, but there are several other diseases that present with chorea-like involuntary movements as a symptom, and the word chorea is not only used as a disease name but is also sometimes used to refer to such symptoms.

It was first described in 1684 by the English physician T. Sydenham and is also known as chorea minor. It is often associated with rheumatic fever caused by streptococcal infection, but with the widespread use of antibiotics, it has become extremely rare in recent years.
