Since Arabic science became important in world history during the Middle Ages, the so-called "Arabic science" refers to medieval Arabic science, and can be defined as "the science of people who engaged in cultural activities in Arabic from the latter half of the 8th century to the 15th century in the area unified by Islam, from Central Asia in the east to the Iberian Peninsula in the west and North Africa in the south." The first thing to note here is that this Arabic science does not mean the science of ethnically Arab people. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
