A dynamic international division of labor theory related to individual goods proposed by the American political economist Raymond Vernon (1913- ). Vernon focused on the fact that goods, like living organisms, have a life cycle from birth to growth, maturity, and eventually decline, and discussed how the pattern of the international division of labor changes through these various phases. During the creation stage of goods, research and development, as well as commercialization, are essential, and because the unit price is high, they are produced in countries with abundant capital and excellent technological capabilities, and are then exported to developed countries with high income levels.
