Synovectomy

...It is performed for the purpose of experimental removal of intra-articular tissue, diagnosis inside the joint, removal of loose bodies, removal of the meniscus, and treatment of suppurative inflammation. (2) Synovectomy: Surgery to remove the synovial surface of the joint membrane. It may be applicable to chronic rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and tuberculosis of the joint.
