A river flowing east through the Central Province of Scotland in the UK. It originates on Mount Ben Lomond on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, flows down the Highlands to Aberfoyle, then enters the Lowland plain, joins with the two tributaries, the Allan and the Tees, near Stirling, and forms an estuary at Alloa before flowing into the Firth of Forth. It has a total length of about 95 km, and a drainage area of about 1,670 km2. The vast plains in the middle and lower reaches are made up of alluvial clay and peat, and were developed for agriculture in the early 19th century.
