…Regarding the growth of living organisms, the relationship between the growth of the whole body and the growth of a part (organ), the relationship between the growth of one part and the growth of another part, or the relationship between growth in different dimensions, such as the increase in weight and the increase in height, is called allometric growth. It describes the change in form during growth, and originated in DW Thomson's book Growth and Form (1917), and was popularized by JS Huxley of the UK and G. Teissier of France (1900-72). The former used the term heterogony, and the latter disharmonic growth, but these were later unified into allometry (heteronomous growth, allometric growth). …
