Capuana, also from Catania, and gave rise to realist literature throughout Italy, especially in the southern regions, which came to be called regionalist literature. The long and short stories of Federico De Reberto (1861-1926) and L. Pirandello, as well as Giuseppe Tomasi Di Lampedusa (1896-1957), who later wrote the novel "The Lynx," are also located on the periphery of "verismo."
