Kulōttuṅga I (English spelling)

...A dynasty that ruled the Deccan region of India, divided into several lineages. The three main lineages are Badami, Kalyāṇi, and Eastern Chalukyas, and the first two are sometimes collectively called the Western Chalukyas. The Badami Chalukyas (Early Western Chalukyas) were founded by Pulakeśin I in the mid-6th century with Badami as its capital, and continued until the mid-8th century. The second and third kings, Kirtivarman I and Mangaleśa, were the sons of the first king, and expanded the dynasty's territory, but when a civil war broke out over the succession to the throne, Pulakeśin II, the son of the second king, killed his uncle Mangaleśa around 610, put down the civil war, and ascended to the throne.
