Ketonic acid

...A general term for compounds that have both a carbonyl group C=O and a carboxyl group -COOH. It is also called a ketonic acid or a keto-carboxylic acid. Those in which both functional groups are directly bonded are called α-keto acids, and as their relative positions become more distant, they are called β-, γ-, or δ-keto acids.
