One of the major postwar art movements that developed mainly in New York in the early 1960s. The mass consumer information society characterized by mass communication through the mass media reached its peak in the 1960s, and a group of artists took advertising design, mass-produced goods, photography, television images, and other subjects as their subject matter, and used mass media methods such as silkscreen printing to create bold and magnificent expressions of the "icons" of mass society, ushering in the heyday of Pop Art.
