Jurjan (English spelling)

...In ancient times it was called Hyrcania, and under the Sassanid Empire it was an important frontier province. In Arabic it was called Jurjan. It was inhabited by Turkmen people, and was the homeland of the Qajar people who established a dynasty at the end of the 18th century.
