Jibāl al-Jalīl (English spelling)

Southern Palestine, further south from the Judean Mountains, forms a large triangle jutting into the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea, like the tip of a sword or the butt of a gun. This part is the Negev Desert, which continues directly into the Sinai Desert to the west, and to the east it faces the wilderness of the Sharaf Mountains in southern Jordan, across the part of the Jordan Rift Valley south of the Dead Sea, i.e., the Wadi al-'Araba. …
