A general term for fishing boats that use pole-and-line fishing for skipjack tuna and longline fishing for tuna. Previously, one fishing boat conducted pole-and-line fishing for skipjack tuna from March/April to October, and longline fishing for tuna from November to March. [Single-line bonito fishing boat] The size of ships varies from 20 tons to 500 tons, but most large ships over 100 tons are made of steel. Small ships were mostly made of wood, but due to shortages of materials and manpower, they began to be made of FRP (reinforced plastic).
