…Any day on which lightning discharges (lightning and thunder) are observed is counted as a thunderstorm day, regardless of the number of times. The line connecting points with an equal number of thunderstorm days is called the isokeraunic level (IKL), and is used to show the regional distribution of thunderstorms. Figure 2 shows the annual distribution of thunderstorm days in Japan.
