Kegonji Temple

Japanese: 華厳寺 - けごんじ

[1] A temple in Jirisan, Gurye County, South Jeolla Province, Korea. Founded by King Jinheung of Silla in 544, burned down in 1593, and rebuilt by Hekigan in 1630, it became a Zen Buddhist training center. [2] A temple in Datong City, Shanxi Province, China. The upper temple was built in the Liao Dynasty and rebuilt in 1140, while the lower temple was built in 1038 and is one of the oldest surviving wooden buildings in China. [3] A temple in Wutai Mountain, Shanxi Province, China. One of the Gokagon Temples built by the great monk Genju Hozo . Ennin visited it from Japan. It is now abandoned. [4] A Tendai sect temple in Tanigumi Tokuzumi, Ibigawa Town, Ibi County, Gifu Prefecture. The mountain name is Tanigumisan. It is said to have been founded by Bunen in 798 . [一] 韓国、全羅南道求礼郡智異山にある寺。五四四年新羅真興王が創建、一五九三年焼失、一六三〇年碧巖(へきがん)が再興して以来禅宗の道場となる。[二] 中国、山西省大同市にある寺。上寺は遼代に建てられたものが一一四〇年に再建され、下寺は一〇三八年建造で、現存する中国最古の木造建築の一つ。[三] 中国、山西省五台山にあった寺。賢首(げんじゅ)大師法蔵の建てた五華厳寺の一つ。日本から円仁が訪れた。現在は廃絶。[四] 岐阜県揖斐(いび)郡揖斐川町谷汲徳積にある天台宗の寺。山号は谷汲山。延暦一七年（七九八）豊然(ぶねん)の創建と伝えられる。西国三十三所最後の札所。谷汲寺。谷汲観音。
