A former town in Shimotsuga County in southern Tochigi Prefecture. The eastern part is the lowlands of the Nagano River and Uzuma River, tributaries of the Watarase River. The town produces rice, wheat, strawberries, grapes, shiitake mushrooms, and more. Tomita, in the center of the town, was a former post station on the Nikko Reiheishi Kaido road, and is served by the Ryomo Line and Tobu Nikko Line. There are electrical and automobile factories. Mount Ohira, which offers a great view, is located in the northwest. In March 2010, it merged with Tochigi City, Fujioka Town in Shimotsuga County, and Tsuga Town. 39.80 km2 .
