The Three Journeys of Ohara

Japanese:
The Three Journeys of Ohara
The title given to the three brothers Fujiwara no Tametada's sons, Fujiwara no Tamenari, Fujiwara no Tametsune, and Fujiwara no Yorinari, in the late Heian period. The three resigned from government service to become monks, and took the names Jakunen, Jakucho, and Jakuzen, respectively. They became active as poets, and were later known as the Three Jaku. Jakucho and Jakuzen lived in Ohara, but there is no evidence that Jakunen ever lived there, and some say it would be better to call them the Three Jaku of Tokiwa, after the location of his father's villa. The actions of the three were in line with the trend of breaking away from the constraints of government life and devoting one's heart to Buddhism, and Jakuzen in particular was on friendly terms with Saigyo. Japanese:
