[Medicinal]
The leaves of Datura stramonium are called Datura leaves or Mandara leaves (both in English are called stramonium) in herbal medicine. The leaves and seeds contain the alkaloid hyoscyamine, which is used as an analgesic, antispasmodic and antitussive drug, and are also used as a raw material for alkaloid extraction. The flowers of Datura stramonium or D. inoxia Mill. are called "Yokinka" and the seeds are called "Mandara-shi".
