Hamura [city] - Hamura

Japanese: 羽村[市] - はむら

A city in the western part of Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1991. It is located on a terrace overlooking the Tama River. Since the 1960s, Hino Motors factories and other businesses have been established in the area, and large-scale land development projects have led to housing development and rapid urbanization. The Ome Line runs through the city. Hamura Weir is the intake point for the Tama River Aqueduct. Near the east exit of Hamura Station is the remains of the Maimaizu Well, a metropolitan historic site, and the city zoo is located in the eastern part of the city. Area: 9.90 ^km2 . Population: 57,032 (2010).

東京都西部の市。1991年市制。多摩川に臨む段丘上にあり，1960年代以降日野自動車工場などが進出，大規模な区画整備事業により宅地化が進み，都市化が著しい。青梅(おうめ)線が通じる。羽村堰(ぜき)は玉川上水の取水口。羽村駅東口近くに都史跡のまいまいず井戸の跡や市域東部に市動物公園がある。9.90km²。５万7032人（2010）。
