A city in the western part of Tokyo. It was incorporated as a city in 1991. It is located on a terrace overlooking the Tama River. Since the 1960s, Hino Motors factories and other businesses have been established in the area, and large-scale land development projects have led to housing development and rapid urbanization. The Ome Line runs through the city. Hamura Weir is the intake point for the Tama River Aqueduct. Near the east exit of Hamura Station is the remains of the Maimaizu Well, a metropolitan historic site, and the city zoo is located in the eastern part of the city. Area: 9.90 km2 .
