Hutu

...They are also called Watutsi or Tussi. They are tall pastoralists who live in the interior of East Africa, in Rwanda and Burundi. They formed the Kingdom of Rwanda and the Kingdom of Burundi by ruling over the Hutu farmers and the Twa hunters. The Kingdom of Rwanda was dissolved in 1959 by a Hutu revolution, and the Kingdom of Burundi became an independent country in 1962, but transitioned to a republic in 1966 after a coup d'état by Prime Minister Micombero.

85% of the population are Bantu Hutu, 14% are Nilo-speaking Tutsi, and less than 1% are pygmy Twa. The tall, light-skinned Tutsi are pastoralists who migrated from the north in the 15th and 16th centuries, but they conquered and subjugated the majority agricultural Hutu.

...A kingdom located in the interior of East Africa, in the area of present-day Burundi. Like the Kingdom of Rwanda, it was a hierarchical state formed by the Nile-speaking Tutsi cattle herders who migrated from the north around the 15th century and dominated the indigenous Hutu agriculturalists and the Twa pygmies. In 1890 it became a German territory, but after World War I it and the Kingdom of Rwanda became Belgian mandates of the League of Nations, and in 1962 it gained independence as a kingdom, but its history as a kingdom ended when it transitioned to a republic in 1966 in a coup d'état by Prime Minister Micombero.

The composition of the population is similar to that of neighboring Burundi to the south. The Bantu-based agricultural Hutu make up 84% of the population, the Nilotic pastoral Tutsi make up 15%, and the pygmy hunter-gatherer Twa make up the remaining 1%. Both the Hutu and Tutsi speak Kinyarwanda, a Bantu language, but they are physically different, with the Tutsi being taller and lighter-skinned.

...A kingdom located in the interior of East Africa, in what is now the Republic of Rwanda. It is said that around the 15th century, Bwimba, a leader of the tall Tutsi pastoralists who had migrated from the north, founded the country by dominating the indigenous Hutu agriculturalists and the Twa (pygmies) hunter-gatherers. In mythology, the king was a direct descendant of the heavenly god Imana, and was given the authority of a divine king.

　住民の構成は南の隣国のブルンジと類似している。バントゥー系の農耕民フツ族Hutuが人口の84％を占め，ナイロート系の牧畜民ツチ族が15％，狩猟採集民でピグミー系のトワ族Twaが残りの1％を占めている。フツ族もツチ族も，言語的にはバントゥー諸語に属するルワンダ語を話すが，両者は形質的には異なり，ツチ族のほうが長身で肌の色も明るい。…
