〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. In Hinayana Buddhism, it refers to the fact that even after one has completely cut off all earthly desires, the physical body still remains as a foundation, and it is believed that one reaches Nirvana upon death, which is called Keshinmetchi (the cessation of wisdom and the extinction of the ashes body) . In Mahayana Buddhism, it refers to the end of the causes of birth and death in this world, and Nirvana is when the ends of birth and death are fulfilled and one attains the eternity of a Buddha. *A man named Takezawa Sensei (1924-25) (Nagayo Zenro) Takezawa Sensei's Walk "Until I Enter That Eternal Nirvana" (The Lotus Sutra - Understanding of Faith) Source: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
