Seika Adachi

Japanese: 安達清河 - あだちせいか

1726-1792 A Chinese poet from the mid-Edo period.
Born on April 27, 1720. Born into a family of ascetics in Shimotsuke (Tochigi Prefecture). He studied Ryōbu Shinto, but disliked the family business and entered the school of Hattori Nankaku in Edo to study poetry. He called his residence Ichikakudō and taught samurai and townspeople. He passed away on February 6, leap year 1790. He was 67 years old. His given names were Yukei and Osamu. His pen names were Bunchū and Kippō. His works include "Daito Chimei-kō" and his poetry collection "Ichikakusōdō-shū".

享保(きょうほう)11年4月27日生まれ。下野(しもつけ)(栃木県)の修験者の家の出身。両部神道を研究したが,家業をきらって江戸の服部南郭(なんかく)の門にはいり,詩をまなぶ。自分の住居を市隠堂とよび武士や町人におしえた。寛政4年閏(うるう)2月6日死去。67歳。名は于慶,修。字(あざな)は文仲,吉甫。著作に「大東地名考」,詩集に「市隠草堂集」など。
