Bonds offered outside the country of the bond issuer. They are denominated in a foreign currency, paid in that currency, and, in principle, redeemed in that currency. When investing Japanese yen in foreign currency bonds and recovering the proceeds in Japanese yen, exchange rate risk is involved.
