Battle of Oto

Japanese: 大塔合戦 - おおとうがっせん
Battle of Oto
This battle was started in September 1400 (Oei 7) by samurai from northern and eastern Shinano who rebelled against the Shugo's rule of Shinano. Nagahide Ogasawara, who had been the Shugo of Shinano since his ancestors, entered Zenkoji Temple and began governing the country, but he was arrogant and even sent Shugo envoys to the territories of the powerful samurai Murakami clan of Kawanakajimadaira. The Murakami clan, who were angry at the oppressive rule of their territories, and the Omonji Uprising, which had been enemies of the Ogasawara clan since the Kan'o Disturbance, were at the center of the conflict, and the main samurai from northern and eastern Shinano united and raised an army, lining up in the area of Shinonoi in present-day Nagano City.
